Ingredients
- ½ cup butter
- 3/8 cup shortening
- 5 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon water [use speck of cream’ if desired, or add more water]
- ½ cup copped nuts [almonds or walnuts]
Method
- Cream, butter, shortening and sugar.
- Add vanilla, almond extract, and flour gradually, beating after each addition.
- Add water and nutmeats last, only a drop of water more at a time if necessary.
- Shape into oblong size cookies about size of little fingers.
- Bake 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. When cool, roll each cookie in granulated sugar.
- Remember that the feel of the dough is very important so cook one cookie in the oven as a test until you get the right constituency.
