Ingredients

  • 3 cups Flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 3/4 cup (or 1 1/2 sticks) Butter
  • 1 cup Buttermilk

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 450 F (230 C)
  2. Sift together the first 5 dry ingredients in a mixing bowl
  3. Cut in pieces of cooled butter and chop with hand blender until a granular mixture
  4. Add buttermilk and stir lightly to make a slightly tacky dough.
  5. Dump onto a floured surface and shake on flour if needed to fold into to 3/4″ thick slab of dough (Pat flat with hands -do not use roller or overwork the dough)
  6. Cut out biscuits with a cookie cutter or small water glass.
  7. Bake on cookie sheet for 12 minutes.
