Ingredients
- 2 cups molasses
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 2 tsp. soda (dissolved in the boiling water)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 5 1/2 to 6 cups flour (start by adding 4 cups)
Method
- Mix ingredients – adding enough flour to make a semi stiff mix.
- Roll with rolling pin – (if too soft, add more flour, knead and reroll)
- Cut into rounds with water glass or cookie cutter
- Bake at 375 F. until done
